2000 (V) Fiat Punto 55900 miles.
No tax, current MOT expires August 2012.
Looking to sell this for £1,000.
Some of the clips are in stereoscopic 3D, if you don't like it just switch it off.
You do this by moving you mouse over the clip while it's playing to show the bottom bar,
you should see the "3D" option, clicking it brings up a menu and you select "Turn off 3D".
The full set of clips on this project as a playlist:
This was bought from a dealer in London.
The engine is very smokey.
Also it seems to run unevenly.
This was remarked on the MOT (hunting).
He told me he acquired it as a non-runner, but found that someone had connected the HT leads in the wrong order.
Once the leads were correctly connected the engine started OK.
I suspect the injectors are clogged and it has been treated with engine cleaner.
Also there are some parts not fully fitted under the bonnet.
The radiator and cambelt cowling where loose.
There was also a set of sparkplugs still under the bonnet.
Looks like they were replaced in an effort to solve the hunting problem.
The bodywork has been repaired, it's rather obvious when closely inspected.
Also the drivers seat is loose.
Otherwise, the interior looks quite good.
There is no radio.
I suspect this was a project which got too costly to complete.
Maybe the tax ran out and there wasn't any facility to work on it.
Work to be done
Need to fix the loose parts in properly.
Also check and clean all electrical connections.
Looking at removing and cleaning the injectors.
May also remove the cylinder head to check inside the engine for problems.
Preparation History
Proceeding to remove the cylinder head.
Design flaws to be aware of:
There is a water feed which is attached to the intake manifold which makes it difficult to remove the intake manifold.
The left engine mount (viewed from the front of the car) is attached to the cylinder head.
This means you have to remove the left engine mount to just replace the cambelt.
Now the engine is opened up we can see the problems:
Yep it's burning oil OK in all 4 pots.
So we can see the design flaw in attaching the water feed to the intake manifold.
Nice clean head and block ready for reassembly.
Pot 3 spark plug is assembled wrongly.
Just making sure the alternator and starter connections are correct.
